The RacketPal story
We've all been there, you really fancy a game of tennis (or badminton, squash, table tennis, padel, pickleball, racquetball, beach tennis, real tennis, platform tennis) but you have nobody to play with. Your friends are down the pub or sitting at home on the sofa, not interested in hitting the court. That’s exactly the problem RacketPal founders Robert and Bogdan realised they shared. And that’s where the RacketPal story began...
As two passionate tennis and squash players, Robert and Bogdan realised there was no obvious way for them to meet other players who were also up for a game. But they knew there had to be a way to fix that. And it all started one evening in February 2019...
The pair were enjoying a pint in The Cleveland Arms in Paddington when it happened. The eureka moment struck and they decided it was time to create an app to help racket sports players meet each other. The very next day they started working on plans for the app.
Now, from what was once an idea down the pub, is a thriving community of tens of thousands of players and growing team of passionate sports lovers, all determined to create one of the biggest online sports communities in the world.
Our journey so far

Meet Robert & Bogdan
aka “The Papas of RacketPal”
Robert Rizea
Robert and Bogdan are the two co-founders who gave birth to RacketPal. But they haven’t always been startup entrepreneurs. At the age of 7, Robert started passion for tennis in his hometown Bucharest, Romania, where he first picked up a racket.
Fast forward 20 years and after a move to the US for his undergraduate studies, Robert relocated to London where he started his career in digital marketing and met Bogdan.
Bogdan Demeny
Bogdan's story on the other hand is different. The tech guru behind RacketPal started playing squash more often after he moved to London in 2015, but sport was always part of his youth. When he was younger Bogdan was a football referee in his spare time, while he focused on coding full time.
When Robert the marketeer met Bogdan the developer, they both shared one thing in common: racket sports. And it was only a matter of time before the two got talking, and the RacketPal journey began...
